Mozambique in southern Africa has faced immense challenges since its independence in 1975. After 16 years of civil war and a huge negative impact of Global Warming it is one of the least developed countries in the world (Place 180 of 189 in the Human Development Index). Even so about 80% of the population is working in the agricultural sector, the development of structures which support cooperatives in the country remains a challenge due to, among others, the perception of cooperatives as a socialistic and government ruled sector.

DGRV is supporting cooperative structures in Mozambique since about 10 years. We are supporting a number of organisations and cooperatives in various sectors financed by the German Ministry for Development and Cooperation (BMZ).

Our work in Mozambique is part of a regional program including South Africa, Malawi, eSwatini and other countries.
