International Networks


DGRV is active in various international networks and cooperations as well as a member of several cooperative organisations in order to promote the cooperative idea worldwide.

DGRV is a member of:

 



ICA – International Cooperative Alliance is a non-governmental co-operative federation or, more precisely, a co-operative union representing co-operatives and the co-operative movement worldwide. It was founded in 1895 to unite, represent and serve co-operatives worldwide. The Alliance maintains the internationally recognised definition of a co-operative in the Statement on the Co-operative Identity. The ICA represents 313 co-operative federations and organisations in 109 countries. Currently, ICA is further represented four regions (ICA-Africa, ICA-Asia Pacific, ICA-Americas, and Cooperatives Europe).



Cooperatives Europe is the voice of cooperative enterprises in Europe. On behalf of its 84 member organisations – including DGRV – from 33 European countries across all business sectors it promotes the cooperative business model in Europe.



CEDP – Cooperatives Europe Development Platform: CEDP is a network of 10 European cooperative organisations which are members of Cooperatives Europe and work on issues of development policy and development implementation. Coming from diverse sectors, cooperative partners share their expertise in complementary fields: cooperative financing, agricultural cooperative development, cooperative law, etc.



IRU – International Raiffeisen Union: The IRU is a worldwide voluntary association of national co-operative organizations which work and ideas are based on Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen’s principles – i.e. self-help, self-responsibility and self-administration. IRU was founded in 1968 as registered association in Neuwied/Rhine on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen’s birth and has today 52 members in 33 countries.



Fairtrade Deutschland e.V. stands behind the worldwide known Fairtrade label. As Germany’s leading development policy organization for fair trade, Fairtrade Deutschland e.V. promotes the label of Fairtrade products and mobilizes against trade injustice.



ACCU – Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions:

In its role as a regional organization for credit unions, ACCU performs representation, development, liaison and coordination functions on behalf of the Asian credit union movements. It also provides members and potential members’ services in long and short-term technical assistance, training, and information.


ASBA – Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas

The Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas (ASBA) is a regional organization that promotes the communication and cooperation between its members. Its main goal is to exchange technical information and experiences that enhance the regulation and supervisory processes in financial institutions of the Americas.


World Bank Group

The World Bank Group is a global partnership of institutions working for sustainable solutions that reduce poverty and build shared prosperity in developing countries. In collaboration with Rabo Foundation, they launched a so-called Center of Excellence for Cooperative Financial Institutions to foster the dialogue between practitioners on relevant issues and suitable approaches to strengthen financial cooperatives and to enhance regulation and supervision. The Center of Excellence consists of a website, quarterly newsletters, 4-6 webinars per year, as well as publications of blogs and documents on relevant experiences from the World Bank Group, our partners and other entities. There are references to some of the publications done by DGRV, too.
