In El Salvador DGRV offers support through two different projects. One financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and one financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
DGRV’s project work in El Salvador is focused on our partnership with the Federation FEDECACES (finance).
FEDECACES is a cooperative second-tier institution that brings together a portion of El Salvador’s savings and credit cooperatives. The objective of the cooperation in the current phase of the project is to give continuity to the use of the tools implemented by the FEDECACES group during many years of activities with DGRV. These control and management tools for savings and credit cooperatives are implemented through FEDECACES and made available to affiliated cooperatives with a centralized and unified support. All this is happening so that the FEDECACES system can continue to make important contributions to the financial inclusion of its members and vulnerable populations that still do not have access to the formal financial market.
The topic of sustainable finance in its different expressions is gaining greater importance in our cooperation in El Salvador. FEDECACES is using DGRV’s elearning course on the subject and implementing DGRV´s “green” scoring system MicroScore.
The project in El Salvador is intended to contribute to financial inclusion in the country through its long-standing cooperation with FEDECACES (Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives), focusing on financial education, improved financial services and the continuous expansion of service points in the country.
Our project in El Salvador contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals, especially:
FEDECACES is a cooperative association with 28 member cooperatives and more than 115 affiliated branches serving different sectors of the Salvadoran population.
