In the small landlocked country of Eswatini we work with a well-established and prosperous cooperative sector which we supported and accompanied in the last couple of years to establish the National Cooperative Federation of Eswatini (NCFE) recognized by the government as the only Apex-body of the entire sector. DGRV is and will support the NCFE in the years going forward in order to ensure that it can support the sector and offer services for all its members.
All project support of DGRV to the mountainous country is planned to be done through the cooperation with the NCFE.
Eswatini is part of the Regional Project Southern Africa Strengthening Cooperative Economic Cycles in Rural and Semiurban Areas in Selected Southern African Countries (SUCOSA) in which a regional exchange among the different stakeholders of the cooperative sector and supporting organisations including the Governments is supported and fostered.
Our project in eSwatini contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals, especially:
The eSwatini Association of Savings and Credit Cooperatives is the Apex-Body of Financial Cooperatives in eSwatini. It represents the sector towards national and international partners and stakeholders.
The Department of Cooperatives is responsible for the registration, audit, supervision, promotion, education and training of all cooperatives in eSwatini.
